In this episode, we discuss the death of Bishop John Shelby Spong. We Review a sermon that he preached entitled “From a Tribal God to a Universal Presence: The Story Of The Bible” We discuss how Spong presents the progressive/liberal view of scripture, which is that the Bible is simply a record of the religious experiences of our ancestors and not the breaking in of an inerrant, inspired, infallible, and authoritative revelation from the One True Creator God, which is the historic Christian view. We hope this episode helps you understand the presuppositions of Bishop Spong and other like him.
